Deer in Jim Corbett

About the park, in brief

India's oldest national park

Jim Corbett National Park, in Uttarakhand's Nainital district, is one of India's oldest reserves (established 1936) and the birthplace of Project Tiger (1973).

Spread across grasslands, sal forests, rivers and hills, it's home to Bengal tigers, wild elephants, deer, and more than 600 bird species. Ramnagar is the gateway town, and the park is divided into several tourism zones, each with its own gate and character.
